Trikala Sandhya Vandhanam
(TSV)
As boys, we have been
taught this during Upanayana / Brahmopadesa in our childhood.
What are Nithya Karma Anushtanams?
1) Trikala Sandhya Vandanam (Must perform daily, thrice daily as Pratha Sandhya, Madyaniga Sandhya and Saayam Sandhya) by all male who have obtained Brahmopadesam
2) Samithadanam (recommended daily once, by unmarried Brahmacharis)
3) Aboupasanam (recommended daily twice, by married Adults and unmarried Brahmacharis)
4) Brahma Yagnyam (recommended to perform daily, once, after Madhyaniga Sandhya)
5) Pithru Tharpanam (specific dates in a month, Lunar cycle dependent, to be performed ONLY by those Male members whose father has passed away).
This document specifically focuses on TSV - Trikala Sandhya Vandanam to start with.
Many of us might not
be practicing this Nithya Karma Anushtanam as has been prescribed on us due to
whatever reasons we thought it fit NOT to do so (time, work-life balance,
rational thinking and approach, having no-faith in all these just purely ruling
them out as a Superstitious habits etc. etc.
Just go through the
two links, where TSV has been explained scientifically I would say. You
do not need to believe in Hinduism as a religion to go through this, comprehend
this, and then decide to take a call whether or not to follow in your routine
life.
I would consider this
as a new beginning in my learning (though we must have been taught this very
basic essential or crux of it when it was imbibed on us during Brahmopadesa or
the immediately following months then itself. We would not have wasted
most precious time so far by not practicing this ourselves thus far.
I would not go into
blaming game here to our elders, they themselves would not have thought of all
these as such, so apparently there had been a technical lag in the way this
knowledge transfer has been carried over generations after generations.
Like in IT or our any
job that needs a procedure to be followed, is it not true that:
a) the trainers,
teaching faculty take the pain to explain the concepts, principles, procedures
including the technicalities
b) the accrediting or
certifying authority verifies the credentials of the student with an ethical
evaluation as per books, as to ensure the student got the subject rightfully in
the most appropriate means and methods
Similarly, had we been
blessed with as such, during Gurukulam way of schooling and collegiate
education, we would have been nurtured to the core over several years of
Gurukulam way of teaching method so we would have got the most appropriate
education for ourselves.
This is just one
example. There are umpteen number of material available in front of us by means
of Devi Mahatmiyam, Srimath Bhagavatham, Siva Puranam, Vishnu Puranam, Garuda
Puranam and so on.......................(leave aside the most reverently heard
Ramayan, Mahabharat and Gita).
Courtesy the Mughal
and British Imperialism turned over the Hindustan over almost 800 years, and
the subsequent impact on society as a whole, I would say we have been deprived
of knowledge. One may argue these are still available in libraries and book
shops just it is left for us to go, buy and keep reading one after
another.
Due to interaction
with our friends, laziness, lethargic or sluggish attitude, or due to any
social impact that we have had during 1960-1990 period (where rational movement
as well as anti-Brahmin and anti-Hindi wave was flowing vehemently all over
TN), we might have been deprived of this wealth of knowledge, which otherwise
we would have learnt and picked up by default during our childhood and youth or
at least during age 25-50 period.
I came across these
two links. The two links provided here is only a 0.001% of the big ocean of
knowledge and wisdom available there on the Net or Libraries or Bookstores
across the world to give you what you want for the larger good of humanity,
leave alone, to explain what's Hinduism.
Each of us would have
been blessed with N number of other material privately of course, from various
sources, which may be even more authentic material than these links. I am sure
the author in this link is not blabbering so we might even rule this out by any
chance.
Crux of what I am
trying say is: one life would not be enough to read and study all these, leave
alone, get into practice in life those values and principles on our own
prerogative.
Due to a materialistic
way of life that has been forced on us right from age 20 or so, for several
decades, we don't take it rightfully into our minds to spare time to think of
all these.
After 50 or 60, if one
starts to read this, how much he can learn in this life.....and put something
into practice...............................we always and often talk of
principles, values and ethics.............................how we are going to
transition this to our next generation kith and kin, if we ourselves are not
enabled, though we have been entitled to pick these stuff during youth
days,
I think it is still
not too late for us this present generation to pick something out of this ocean
to reinvigorate ourselves, reignite that fire in us to update ourselves in this
life................as much as possible.
